It was only a matter of time before the Missing Children Society of Canada started using technology and social media to reunite missing and abducted kids with their families and on Monday, Corporate Canada as well as the Calgary Police, joined with the society to launch "CodeSearch."

The ground-breaking program is wrapped up nicely in a Smartphone Application, which corporate partners like Westjet and Enmax, will install on employee phones.

Police Chief Rick Hanson says not ever case meets the criteria of an Amber Alert, so CodeSearch will ensure the information of all missing children is met with the same urgency.

The App activates when a child is missing or abducted and in addition to police efforts, corporate partner employees will be sent alerts with time sensitive information including specific locations and will act as the eyes and ears in local areas.

The smartphone App allows Canadians to take an active role in a safer community and with such time sensitive information, a missing child will be found sooner, if an abductor has no where to go.

CodeSearch gives Canadians, real-time information on missing children to play an active role in their search, in order to keep kids in our communities safe.

Amanda Pick, the Executive Director of MCSC says when you talk about a community and using technology to save a child, CodeSearch is the future of a safer Canada.

For Judy Peterson, the mother of a missing child, it's a relief such an App is being used.

Her daughter Lindsey Nicholls went missing over 19 years ago and Judy says, had their been such technology then her daughter could have been found.
